![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() SOMEDAY, THERE'LL BE NO MORE OLD FOLKS (For Bob and Shirley Cutler) Someday, there'll be no more old folks. Like the seasons, they come and they'll go. You'll turn and you'll search for their faces; The faces you knew long ago. Go looking in every direction. Look around and look high and look low. Search everywhere all the world over And you'll come up with nothing to show. It isn't that you have misplaced them. It isn't that they have got lost. But rather, it's time that's erased them. As sunlight will melt away frost. Look around at the things that they authored; All the things that are lasting and true. Look at all of the things that they cared for. Remember that one of them's you. Take a moment to ponder that thought, now. Think of all of the time that has passed. Think of all of the years you've been living. Did you think they'd go by quite so fast? That's when you'll feel that they're present And never did leave you at all. When you see yourself old in the mirror. When your winter's succeeded you fall. Someday, there'll be no more old folks. Like the seasons, they came and they'll go. Yes, someday there'll be no more old folks Except you and me, don't you know.
